Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is “on the way up” as a footballer, according to Arsene Wenger.
With only 12 months remaining of his contract at the Emirates Stadium he has been heavily linked with Chelsea and Liverpool this summer.
Talks over a new deal have reportedly stalled but Wenger seems keen to keep the England international at the club and predicts a bright future for the player.
“Yes. I think he had in his career some bad moments because he had some small injuries,” Wenger told a press conference on Wednesday.
“Last year he was much more stable. I personally think he’s a hugely talented player and he’s on the way up.
“He’ll continue to move up because the potential is there. He’s today very conscious of his qualities as well, something he was not always.
“I personally think he’ll be a very great player.”
